US to ban Chinese software and hardware used in cars
The US is going to ban Chinese software and hardware connected to ordinary and driverless cars. The US Commerce Department may present this ban proposal on Monday. Reuters reported this news citing two sources.
According to the news, these cars running on American roads can be a threat to the country's national security. Therefore, the software and hardware used in the car will be banned.
The Biden administration has already raised questions about the security risks of Chinese companies collecting data on US drivers and infrastructure. They are taking into account the possibility of foreign interference in cars connected to the Internet and navigation systems.
If the proposed ban is passed, cars imported and purchased from China and communication and automated driving system software, hardware will be subject to the ban.
The sources did not reveal their identities as they have not spoken publicly about the matter.
The new initiative is expected to strengthen US restrictions on Chinese cars, software and parts. Last week, the US imposed 100% tariffs on imported cars, EV batteries, minerals, etc. from China.
